The Cursillo Movement arose from a simple observation, just as true today as it was when Cursillo began in 1944: “the world was in chaos because baptized men [and women] were not aware of the potential that the grace of God gives them to be and live as Christians.”
Through the Cursillo weekend and the ongoing formation following the weekend, Christians are brought to a deep awareness of the reality of the grace of Jesus Christ in their lives, and equipped to evangelize the world in which they live. Empowered by grace and converted to Christ, Cursillistas are sent out to build a Christian society.
As Vatican II taught, the vocation of the laity is “the evangelization and sanctification of men and…the penetrating and perfecting of the temporal order through the spirit of the gospel.” Your mission is to let Jesus Christ be the center of your life, so that you can help put him at the center of the whole world. If you’re ready for that mission, then you’re ready for Cursillo!
