The Office of Parish Resources assists parishes and schools in the management of their business and properties responsibilities. The mission is to help pastors and business managers/administrators create a transparent, trusting environment for parishioners to promote confidence in their support and to protect parish employees. Specifically we facilitate the education and training of parish staff, finance councils and trustees in financial and civil matters. We work in parallel with the diocesan Internal Auditor to assist parishes to establish improved practices, establish policies, or take recommended actions originating from

ParishSoft has been chosen as the common software for accounting, ledger, payables and payroll for the parishes.

Parish accounting and payroll service
The Diocese of Bismarck offers accounting services to parishes of all sizes. Parishes must contract with diocese approved payroll service providers. Contact the Finance Office parish resource manager for more information.
Capital improvements, extraordinary expenses or alienation of property
When considering large expenditures over $10,000, parishes must follow the Resolution Procedure and the Building Process Policy prior to taking any action. Depending upon the scope and size of the project, parishes may also require the approval of one or more of the following bodies: the Diocesan Building Commission, the Diocesan Finance Council and/or the Parish Expansion Fund Board.
