This month of October will be a time of tremendous grace for our Holy Church. As you know, the last weekend of October, our Diocese of Bismarck will sponsor our Thirst 2016 Eucharistic Conference. As you have been reading here and on our Diocesan website, this Conference promises to be a wonderful moment for all of us to gather in Our Blessed Lord’s presence and receive, from Him, His abundant mercy.
If you have already registered for our Thirst 2016 Eucharistic Conference, I thank you and look forward to being with you. If you are still thinking about coming, just trust in the mercy of Jesus, register, come and enjoy being with Him and, if you can, bring a friend or two. The entire Conference is free and all we require is your presence so, please do come and be strengthened in your faith, hope and charity. As I said, all of the information about Thirst 2016 can be found in this issue of the
Dakota Catholic Action as well as on our Diocesan website.
Keeping in mind that we are still celebrating the great Jubilee of the Year of Mercy, as a part of our Thirst 2016 Eucharistic Conference, we will be celebrating another “24 Hours of Mercy” from Friday evening through Saturday evening. Our good priests will be available around the clock during that time to hear confessions. There is no better way to obtain God’s mercy than through the forgiveness of our sins. There will be exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the entire Conference which will give you an opportunity to spend some personal and quiet time with Jesus. If you cannot be present for the entire Conference, at least make the time to come and participate in what you are able, you will not be disappointed!
In addition to our Thirst 2016 Eucharistic Conference at the end of the month, I want to remind all that the Catholic Church dedicates the month of October to the Holy Rosary. As we know, when we pray the Holy Rosary with reverent meditation, we come to understand better the life of Jesus as Our Lord, Our Savior and Our Brother. Also, we come to appreciate even more Our Blessed Mother as truly His Mother and ours, how she is always interceding for us with Jesus and how and why she leads us to Him. The Holy Rosary is a tremendous private and public prayer and I ask you to commit to saying the Rosary every day in this month of October. You will find great peace of mind and heart when you spend about 15 minutes each day praying with Our Blessed Mother, meditating on Her Son’s life and Almighty God’s eternal love for us.
Again, please come to Thirst 2016. I hope to see you there!
