The Office of Canonical Affairs provides consultation services to those having questions on the law of the Church. The law of the Church, commonly called the Code of Canon Law, is meant to bring order and fairness throughout the Church. It also can bring resolution to many problems. Promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1983 for the Latin Rite and in 1990 for the Eastern Rites, these Codes are the fruit of the decisions of the Second Vatican Council, but in legal form.
Here you can reference the Code of Canon Law for the Latin Rite (majority of Catholics) or for the Eastern Rites (such as Ukrainian or Byzantine Catholics).
Questions or formal requests for consultation may be addressed to the Director of the Office of Canonical Services, Fr. Chris Kadrmas, 1-701-204-7203.
