The Catholic Youth Advisory Council will be discontinued for the next year. The Office of Catechesis and Youth will be working on a new initiative that best serves our parishes and the young people of our diocese by creating a space for them to encounter Jesus more deeply. If you have any questions, please contact Neil Albaña at nalbana@bismarckdiocese.com or call (701) 204-7206.
CYAC is made up of 8-12 grade youth across the Diocese who are excited about growing into well-formed, Catholic leaders through organizing and participating in Diocesan initiatives as well as making the most of other opportunities to grow in their prayer life, virtues, friendships and understanding of the Catholic faith.
Common Questions about CYAC:
When does CYAC meet? CYAC meets in person about 5-6 times a year (about every other month) with online GoToMeetings as needed (roughly every other month). The Office of Catechesis and Youth provides 2-3 special events per year for CYAC youth which includes a retreat in the Fall (before school begins), Christmas party in mid-December and a service project.
What perks are there in being in CYAC? Besides the greatest good of striving to know, love, and serve God in a fruitful and life-giving Communion of Love, CYAC members also enjoy an annual $50 discount on any diocesan youth event as well as free entrance to the Diocesan Youth Conference. CYAC members are also assigned to a young adult / adult mentor who walk alongside her / him in their path to holiness.
What does it cost to be in CYAC? Membership in CYAC costs nothing more than your availability and willingness to commit to the CYAC mission and participate in CYAC initiatives whenever possible!
