The March for Life Pilgrimage
National March for Life, Washington D.C.
The National March for Life
Every year, tens of thousands of people from across the nation converge on the National Mall and march on Capitol Hill to witness to the dignity of life on the anniversary of the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion in all 50 states. The March for life is the largest annual human rights demonstration in the world.
We invite you to join the Bismarck and the Fargo Diocese in this pilgrimage to the March for Life in D.C. This pilgrimage provides an opportunity for youth to be a part of a national movement to defend a 2,000-year Catholic tradition of protecting life threatened by abortion. The trip will include participation in the annual March for Life in Washington, DC, local sightseeing and tours of museums and monuments.
Wasn't Roe v. Wade overturned? Why keep marching?
Great question! Yes, Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court on June 6, 2022, which means we are only halfway there! The overturning of Roe v. Wade gave power to the states to determine when life begins and should be defended. That means the grave evil of abortion is still legal in our nation. It is a huge step to be able to defend life in states that uphold the dignity of life, but that is not the case everywhere in our nation. We should desire that our nation abide by the truth and seek to defend life from conception to natural death at every cost. This is why we are still marching.
