Natural Family Planning is a term for natural methods used to achieve or avoid pregnancies based on the naturally occurring signs and symptoms of the fertile and infertile phases of a woman’s menstrual cycle. It can also be used to monitor a woman’s cycle for health. Learn more here: What is Natural Family Planning?
The Bismarck Diocese offers multiple NFP methods to choose from to complete the diocesan requirement. The cost for the engaged couple varies, depending on method chosen. As of July 1, 2022, Billings Method, Creighton Model and Marquette Method is $200. Couple to Couple League Sympto-Thermal Method is $150 and Chart Your Cycle Engaged Method (coming soon) is $325.
Any of the NFP methods offered by our Diocese (Billings, Couple to Couple League, Creighton Model or Marquette) will fulfill your pre-marriage NFP requirement. You MUST take a class with a Bismarck Diocese instructor. Online classes with a diocese NFP instructor are allowed, but not with any instructor outside the Bismarck Diocese.
Below are the methods of NFP our Diocese offers. Click on one of the links for method specific information and how to begin learning that method.
Click on your method choice above to find a class. If you do not see a class on the calendar, please see the list of instructors and their contact info.
Some methods prefer to schedule classes as needed and request that the couple reach them directly to learn the method.
